Origins of Blackjack

The origins of Blackjack (origins often controversial) comes from two French card games: the “railroad” and “French Farm” and will be called the “twenty-one” since the eighteenth century. The game has evolved to become the Black Jack (Black Jack English). To attract players were offered a bonus when the hand was composed of an ace of spades and a jack of spades. Stanford Wong, nickname of professional blackjack player John Ferguson, published in 1975 “Professional Blackjack“, a book for which he used computer simulations to improve the basic strategy. This book became the bible of blackjack. He was also the creator of the first software that analyses the hands of blackjack, “Blackjack Analyser“”.

Julian Brown, a former IBM employee has contributed to the history of blackjack. He has developed new strategies for both the basic strategy and card counting, published in the second edition of “beat the dealer“.
